  • What is Women’s Health Physiotherapy?
Women’s Health Physiotherapy is specifically for women while they go through the many changes our body undergoes. Whether this is hormonal changes of puberty, antenatal, pregnancy or postnatal changes , or perimenopausal or postmenopausal changes. We use research based treatment techniques, rehabilitation exercises and informed information giving to help the patient to be educated , feel advised and feel empowered to embrace the changes- often resolving the pains/discomforts/dysfunctions and learning self management strategies to continue being body aware and return to fitness/function.
  • How do I book an appointment?
Appointments can be booked by emailing Sandra on: sandra@bumpsandonwards.co.uk or calling her on: 07396 820092.
  • How long are physiotherapy sessions?
Physiotherapy sessions vary depending on the complexity of the presentation. Often a new patient slot can be 1 hour or sometimes women’s health presentations may need a little longer . The Mummy MOT is 90 minutes. Follow ups can be 30 mins or 45 mins depending on the situation.
  • What should I wear?
Loose comfortable clothing and comfy shoes are appropriate. Many clients come to see me in leggings/shorts and vest tops for ease of access for assessment and treatment.
  • How many treatments will I need?
Again this depends on the presentation and your progress- we will work together to plan appropriately. Sometimes 2-3 sessions is enough to highlight the issue and treat, sometimes the issue is treated and ongoing management is required. Sometimes initial assessment plus follow up 2 weeks later is recommended then with monthly follow ups for rehab progressions.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact me by phone or email no later than 24 hours prior to your appointment. Due to the difficulty of filling an appointment, it is my policy to reserve the right to charge the full amount for any cancellations less than 24 hours before your appointment and if you fail to attend your appointment.
  • Do I need to see the GP first?
No, you do not need to see the GP first to book an appointment. If we however feel there is a need for you to see a GP we can discuss this by phone first, or if on first session this is seen to be necessary then we can liaise with the GP.
  • Where can I find you?
I am a fully qualified chartered physiotherapist with 30 years experience. I can be found on the CSP ( Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) list of registered practitioners as well as on the HCPC ( Health Care Professions Council ) register. I am also an affiliate member of the POGP ( Pelvic. Obstetric, and Gynaecological Physiotherapy society) and can be found in their “ Find a Physiotherapist “section. Additionally: I am a registered MUMMY MOT practitioner and can be found on their “Certified list of Practitioners”. I am on the Squeezy App register of professionals.
